Night in Savannah, GA

Our drive from Kelly's house in Mississippi to Savannah, GA was the longest of the trip, 8 hours. However, just like the rest of the trip, it was great. Camden slept from Mississippi to the Georgia state line (he woke up just as we pulled in the Visitors Center for a bathroom break), so he slept all through Alabama. Jonmark not only saw the Talledega Superspeedway, but he and Mykenzi were excited to also pass many NASCAR haulers taking the cars to California for the race the following weekend. We saw trucks hauling cars for Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, David Ragan, Michael Waltrip, Scott Riggs, and Johnny Sauter. Mykenzi was really into this because she most wanted to see Kasey Kahne of course, and when we stopped in Atlanta to grab a quick lunch she asked if we were going to see any more "Nascars" (that's what she called them), and we told her we probably wouldn't so about two minutes later, she had fallen asleep. It was if that was all she was staying awake for, and she slept most of the way to Savannah. I believe Camden took a little nap between Atlanta and Savannah. After we dropped off our stuff at the hotel, we went out to walk River Street and have dinner.

The Eugene Talmadge Memorial Bridge can be seen from River Street, which takes you over to South Carolina. I'm not a big fan of bridges, but Jonmark thought this bridge was so cool, and was thrilled the next day when it was the route we took out of town on our way to Wilmington, NC.

River Street is beautiful and busy.

We walked through the candy store, and candy was going up one side of the store and being dumped into this big bin on the other side.

Waiting for dinner at The Shrimp Factory after several locals recommended it.

Can you see the excitement on her face? She was the main reason for the stop in Savannah because of her love of Paula Deen, so she was thrilled that we were actually there.

Still waiting for dinner, and after so many naps and sitting in the car for a little over 8 hours, he really needed a playground to burn off some energy, but instead were trying to have a meal in a restaurant.
