FINALLY!

Camden is finally into books just like Mykenzi was at this age! It has bothered me so much for the last several months that Camden has not wanted to listen to or even look at books, to the point that I even asked the pediatrician about it because I love books and Mykenzi has always loved books, and the one thing I always hear from everyone is to READ READ READ to babies/children. I would try and Camden would grab the book and start chewing. He has messed up a lot of the board books that we've had since Mykenzi was a baby, that were perfect before he came along because she never tried to do that. Well, recently, he's started going in his room or through his basket in the family room, finding books, and bringing them to us, one right after the other. It's a big deal in this house because not only is it wonderful that he's finally sitting with you and letting you read to him while looking at the pictures which is really good for him, but it's reminiscent of Mykenzi has a baby. It never bothered me when Mykenzi would do this, dragging book after book to me, and a lot of times repeating the same book. She could sit for reading books for a long period of time, even at Camden's age, but Jonmark does not share my love for reading, so it was always funny when she would pick him to bring the books to over and over because it was the last thing he wanted to do. So we find ourselves cracking up laughing again at Camden doing the same thing Mykenzi did.

I know a few people might know about Pajama Time having heard Jonmark's version of it with Mykenzi when she was a baby, and this past weekend Jonmark did it for Camden for the first time!

Daddy's hat and sunglasses

My kids always want to wear Daddy's hat! They love to take his hat, sunglasses, cell phone, belt, socks, and shoes from him all the time. Some mornings it's a game because they'll run off with one of these things and hide. Mykenzi started this when she was just a baby. Jonmark would lay his jeans and belt out on the bed in the morning while getting ready for work, and she would try to stuff them both under the covers and sit there giggling the whole time. It quickly became a ritual every morning, like the day didn't start right if she didn't do that. Now sometimes they'll go running out of the room dragging his belt or pants or whatever, and hide some where with them. When Mykenzi does it though, just like when playing hide and seek, she constantly giggles from her spot so you always know where she is.

Baby Wipes

You know what people say, if the kids are quiet they must be doing something wrong, well it's definitely true. Camden is notorious for this. I can't remember what we were all doing this particular night, but Mykenzi was even with us, I think we were all looking for something. When we realized Camden was following along behind as usual, and it was quiet in the house, we found him their hallway pulling wipes out of the box. This was the first time he'd done this, and he'll do it again (and has) if you forget and leave the box on the floor or within his reach. You'll think you've put them somewhere he can't get to, and then you discover he's found a way. I have no idea why he thinks this is so much fun!

Fleeing the scene!

How's this cheese?

I'm always asking Mykenzi to smile, although I don't recall ever asking her to say cheese, but she's always asking me, with a big smile on her face, "Mom, how's this cheese?"

Mykenzi's Birthday - Part 3 (of 3)

Finally! Here are the rest of Mykenzi's birthday pictures. I have a bunch of pictures of her opening presents, but I'm so behind on this blog and so busy with other people's pictures that I'm just going to skip those so that I can hopefully get caught up on here.

After a long, but fun, day at Kings Dominion, we came home with a very sleepy birthday girl. I tried everything to wake her up for presents and cake, but she didn't fully wake up until we saw a door roaming through our backyard (this does happen often, not a lot, but a few times a year we do actually see them, and we've heard them at night). So we stared out the back windows/doors for about 15-20 minutes watching this deer that did not seem to mind at all when Camden would bang on the back door and yell out to it. He was just eating and slowly strolling along. Once he finally decided to leave, she was ready for presents and cake.

Camden got a few presents from Kelly, Brian, and Trenton as well, and it was like he knew right away those were for him. We were getting the cake and ice cream ready, and he had picked up both of the boxes of trucks and came walking over to the kitchen with them wanting us to open them up for him.

Big Dora fan here! Although she doesn't watch Dora too often on tv, just mainly on DVDs.

She just had to have a #4 candle for her cake, which was not easy to find believe it or not. Before Camden's birthday she insisted that he have a 1 candle and she have a 4 candle. After searching every party story and other stores for a 1 candle and realizing the 4s weren't always available either, I bought the 4 when I finally found his 1. She talked about that candle for so long before her birthday I really did not want to disappoint her.

Making a wish!

Playing with his new John Deere dump truck and waiting for his piece of cake.

Mmmmmm....we love Mary's cake!

Here's the ball pit that Kelly, Brian, and Trenton got for Mykenzi and Camden. They love this thing, and more balls have been added, plus their own balls around the house. I can even get in there with them because there is so much room, but they get a little too crazy with the balls for me.

I'm going to try to update with more pictures a little bit at a time until I can get caught up. We've been really busy and sadly I haven't taken as many pictures of the kids as I would like, but that will change.
