March 2010

Cohen, playing in the exersaucer and eating a goldfish snack.

Enjoying a blanket tent/fort in the family room.

Camden fell asleep holding an animal cracker, and Cohen figured since he's not eating it, he will.

He got it!

He thought it was pretty funny!

Those things are so messy!

Playing before bed.

Trying out a sippy cup.

Jonmark always does the weirdest things with the babies. We all thought it was funny, but Cohen looks scared.

While we were getting ready to leave one day, Camden decided to put all the extension tubes for the vacuum together and use it as a gun. He made shooting sounds as he aimed out the back window at deer (we have deer go through our yard day and night, all the time, but he was just pretending to see one here).

What happened here? I keep a basket under an end table in the family room for toys, and Camden pulled it out just a little, and for some reason (I never found out what he was trying to do), climbed up on top of the basket, which flipped upward due to his weight and sent him crashing down on the corner of the table (the tables have straight edges with corners and they're not baby proofed - never had a problem like this before). It happened so fast, blood was immediately going every where, and since I wasn't sure if he was going to need stitches, I called Jonmark to come look at him. We ended up at an urgent care, where they applied a steri strip. It continued to bleed after being bandaged, so it looked gross for quite a while.

The babies always love walking under the table.

Notice the pacifier is never far away!

Camden was sitting at the table while I got things ready for Mykenzi to do school work that day. He especially loved playing with the colored cubes for counting.

Mykenzi, the little mommy, offering to pick Cohen up.

I don't have any idea why Camden did this.

Mykenzi was busy at work outside.

Camden, eating lunch at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, an educational field trip for Mykenzi. We rode the Metro into D.C. That was quite an experience with 3 kids, 1 walking and 2 in a double stroller. It was worth it though to not have to deal with traffic and parking, and it was really neat when we came up the elevator from the Metro and found ourselves right in the middle of the city.

Mykenzi was upset because they were selling ice cream in the cafeteria/food court area, and we said no.

Doesn't she just look like a tourist in her jeans, tennis shoes, and sunglasses? She spotted a sidewalk vendor.

We couldn't deny them the experience of shopping at a sidewalk vendor, plus they were so good on the Metro and in the museum. They earned it.

Camden loves ice cream sandwiches. This one is huge, so Jonmark thought for sure he'd get to eat the leftovers, but no, Camden ate it all.

I felt so bad for Mykenzi having to walk every where, and we did end up walking several city blocks to go see the old post office building. That was another experience. First finding our way in, then the right way up to the top of the building, which included a couple of different elevator trips, one that was so old and barely the size of a coat closet, which was very difficult for a family of 5 with a double stroller. The view was priceless though!

Maw Maw and Pop needed some dirt, so we loaded up the truck, and the kids went to help spread it around.

What a look!

Busy busy!

All that manual labor makes a boy thirsty!

One evening I found Cohen sleeping in his swing like this.

That cut above Camden's eye left a little pink scar. If you look closely, comparing Camden's eyebrows, you can also see that in preparation for stitching (before the doctor decided to do a steri strip), he cut away Camden's eyebrow, which took some time to grow back.

Kenzi has such beautiful blue eyes and pretty eyelashes! When you look at her, or hear her talk (she thinks she's a 40 year old adult, I swear), sometimes it's easy to forget that she is just a little girl. She thinks she's so big and she really carries herself that way most of the time, but really, while she's not a "baby" anymore, she is just a baby in this world. There are two times I'm reminded of just how small she still is: 1) when we go to the doctor or dentist (because she's terrified of both), and 2) when she's doing school work (I think it's even humbling to her when she realizes she in fact, does not know everything yet).

January 2010

I walk out of Cohen's room for a few seconds, and come back
to find Camden in the crib. This was the first time he did that,
and I've caught him trying to do it several times. So, if Cohen
is in his crib and Camden knows it, I can't leave the room.

eating carrots for the first time (first solids besides cereal)

Cohen is our biggest eater. Smallest baby, but biggest eater. Go figure!

Camden decided to wreck his room one morning, and Cohen watched.

Mykenzi put this puzzle together almost completely by herself.

I gave the boys matching pj's for Christmas. Aren't they cute?

Cohen had been using Camden's old swing, which died on us. Both boys have loved the swing, and Cohen hasn't shown any signs of being done with it (it's his favorite way to sleep besides being held), so we had to go buy a new one. After some research we found that it's very commeon for the motor in these Fisher Price papasan style swings to die. You can probably get a replacement motor from FP if you pay for it and know how to put it in the swing, but we didn't get that far as it died on us during a crucial time where he was being extra fussy and the swing was our saving grace. As it turns out, the swing is paying for itself in what we're saving in batteries. We were replacing all four D batteries in the old swing quite often ever since Cohen was born, about once a week (good thing we buy batteries in bulk at BJ's but it still adds up), and we've only put batteries in this swing once in 2 months. Cohen is still using it just as often too.

Safety Goggles

These safety goggles came with Camden's tools and workbench,
and he thought Cohen wanted to wear them. Around here he
needs those, a helmet, and full body armor!

Presents From the Carters

The kids woke up the day after Christmas to find
more presents, but this time from the Carter family.

Camden loves these little tractors! Trenton had
some like this when we visited with them a few
weeks before Christmas, he was nice enough
to share, and Camden loved playing with them.

Mykenzi is a crafty little girl, and has really enjoyed
working with this weaving loom from the Carters. I was
surprised by how much she could do herself.

Silly boy!

Mykenzi got a chance to do some baking with her
easy bake oven that day.

She was having such a good time, and was so sweet
to let Camden climb up on the chair and help.
