Growing Sullivans: Sibling Class

To get ready for the new baby, we signed Mykenzi and Camden up for the Sibling Class at the hospital. Mykenzi went to this same class before Camden was born, but that was 2 years ago, and she was with the younger group. This time I put her with the 5+ age group, but they didn't do anything any different. Jonmark said she could have taught the class, but nonetheless, she enjoyed it, and it doesn't hurt to have a little refresher, plus it was different for Camden. For me, it was totally worth it to see them dress up as a nurse and a doctor. When we went 2 years ago, Mykenzi refused to put any of that stuff on, but this time she gladly chose nurse for herself and doctor for Camden, who also surprised us by wearing the hat and mask. First they watched a video about baby siblings, then they put on the doctor/nurse gear and we headed up to Mother & Baby to see a room and peek in the nursery at a newborn, and then came back to the room to practice some things on the babies they brought.

Nurse Mykenzi! Mykenzi has flip flopped over the years (since she started talking) about being a nurse or a baby doctor.

I love it!

Out of the class of 5 children (last time it was a huge class), only 3 participated by wearing the doctor/nurse gear, 2 of 3 were our kids and the other one was the oldest there, a boy of 11 years old. We were so proud of Mykenzi and Camden for participating!

Back to the classroom to put diapers on the babies! Mykenzi already knows how to do this, and will gladly change Camden's wet diapers (she's been doing it for a long time, but rarely every does it). Plus she has tons of babydolls and babydoll diapers to practice with.

She didn't need any help or direction! She just went to it.

Camden knows how to undo his diapers and take them off (of course), but he needed a little help from Daddy in putting a diaper on Ribbit (remember him? that's the frog that Mykenzi made for him at the Bear Factory before he was born).
